One of the guiding principles of the Reiki system states: "Just for today, I will not anger." This simple yet profound statement holds the key to transforming not only our inner world but also the collective energy around us.
In our fast-paced world, emotions often run high, and anger is one of the most common and destructive feelings we experience. But what does it truly mean to manage anger, and why is it so important? At its core, managing anger is about recognizing and understanding this powerful emotion without letting it control our actions or harm others.
Anger is a suppressed emotion with immense destructive power. It can harm the person experiencing it and those around them. We also can even compare anger to cancer cells, they destroy the owner from within.
It is good to know that anger from each person goes to the same collective flow and creates even more powerful destructive energy. Collective anger seems to be spreading across the world. Imagine the impact of anger growing within a neighbourhood, city, or even the world. Collective anger or tension acts like a tornado, destroying everything in its path. It feeds on our tension, blame, and attempts to punish others—whether in real life or in our minds. But does this approach truly help improve the situation? Often, it only exacerbates the problem.
Returning to the Reiki principle, mindfulness and awareness are key. We need to maintain mental "hygiene" and respond to tension by shifting our personal mindset. Each individual’s thoughts and actions contribute to the collective energy. By responding with unconditional love, we can positively impact the collective flow of energy.
One of humanity's greatest challenges is tolerance. Our lack of tolerance stems from an inability to accept—to accept different religions, skin colours, opinions, and situations. To overcome this, we must start with inner change, focusing on our own attitudes and beliefs. The external world reflects our internal state, and our interactions with the outside world mirror how we feel about ourselves.
Many people believe that the cause of anger lies in external factors. They wish others would change, that the world would be different, or they struggle to accept themselves as they are—viewing these as the source of their frustration.
To address this, we must turn inward and examine what we carry within. Our attitude and reactions to the outside world often reflect our inner state.
We also mistakenly believe their inner thoughts are private and unseen. However, thoughts are energy, and energy cannot be hidden. If we want to change the world, we must change the collective energy by transforming our thoughts, actions, and attitudes toward one another.
Begin by turning your focus inward. Take time to tidy up your inner world, address what needs attention, release tension, and confront your concerns. Cultivate acceptance and understand yourself deeply. Reflect on why you harbour suppressed emotions and why managing them feels difficult.
Embrace the most powerful remedy: self-love. Discover your inner strength, acknowledge your positive traits, and appreciate your unique talents and abilities.
Once you've nurtured enough self-love, extend it outward. Share this love with others—your neighbours, your community, people in distant cities, and across countries. Let this love flow to every living being, transcending barriers of race, religion, or nationality. In doing so, we can collectively create a more peaceful and harmonious world.
Why not start today? Take a moment now to pause, breathe, and let go of anger. Practice the principle: "Just for today, I will not anger."
This journey begins with small steps, but every step moves us closer to a world brimming with compassion and understanding.
